WARRIORS forward Kuda Mahachi says they need to be ruthless in front of goal when they host Somalia in a 2022 World Cup qualifier at the National Sports Stadium this afternoon.

We need to be ruthless – Mahachi

The team lost 1-0 away in the first leg that was played in Djibouti and now need to win by a two-goal margin to progress to the next stage.

“We need to be ruthless in front of goal. We want as many goals as we can, fans should brace up for goals galore.

“We need to push as a team and work on our last third. We will produce much-needed goals.

“We have been working on that area and its time we reflect on what we have been doing at training,” said Mahachi.

Mahachi said they are not making the same mistake of underrating their opponents.

He believes the team has good strikers who will rise up to the occasion.

“We have a good squad; we also have sharpshooters. I am convinced we will score more.

“We have a lot of senior players with experience. Almost everyone is capable of making it into the starting eleven and produce results.

“I believe in our team and I am optimistic we will do better,” he added.

Mahachi said fans should rally behind the team saying their support is always pivotal.

He also apologized for the shocking defeat to the Somalis saying they will redeem themselves today.

“We are very disappointed about the way we lost the first leg.

“But we have to bounce back and redeem ourselves. We have to make the nation happy because it was embarrassing to lose to Somalia.

“It was humiliating at the same time, we lost to the last ranked team.

“This time around we know what we are getting into, we know our opponents. We know we are playing a team that is good on counter-attacks,” he said.
